Here is my take on it:

I used my current favorite stamp-the bubblewrap stamp from KaiserCraft! Then I drew random lines over he stamping to create a grid.

We'd love it if you played along with us! Link up your creations here! We love seeing all of them!!

The Color Room & Flying Unicorn

The Flying Unicorn is a sponsor at The Color Room this month!
I participated in this week's color challenge. It was so much fun!! Here is the palette:

And here is my latout:

I started with white cardstock & misted over the snowflakes that I  had punched. I then removed the snowflakes to expose the white cs. I added some pp cut in circles then gessoed over them all. After that was done I misted some more. Then I added some hexagons that were not misted so that they would pop. I also added white crackle paint to the "winter" card.
If you get a chance to play along, make sure to link yout creations to The Color Room and The Flying Unicorn forum for a chance to win some awesome prizes!!
Good night y'all!

She is Amazing

Monday morning Ty had a complete meltdown when it was time to wake up & get ready for school. Complete with gruntings, tears & yelling. What a way to start the week & a Monday morning! He just wouldn't listen & fought me every step of the way. He wouldn't tell me what he wanted for breakfast so I put some blueberry mini muffins on his plate-easy enough?! Well, he did not want to eat those but he wouldn't tell me what he wanted either! He did however tell Leah & she proceeded to tell me. She helped him pack his bag & get his shoes on (because Ty was so mad at me that he didn't want me around. The feeling was a bit mutual.) He even told me he didn't want to eat breakfast with me in the kitchen! Ha! And I thought only girls had attitudes!!
But Leah was amazing through it all. She was extremely patient with  him, much more than even I was. She talked to him in a very kind & pragmatic way. And that worked for him. He listened to her & talked to her. He was so mad at me though that he wouldn't walk next to me on the way to the busstop! We all have our days I guess!
Yesterday morning I was so proud of the big sister that Leah is. She really looks after her brother. She even still sits with him on the bus because he is not 100% confident without her. She is an amazing kid with a kind and loving heart! I love her to pieces and she shines oh so bright.

Do you know who else I think is amazing, in a scrappy way? Linda Albrecht! And she is giving away an awesome mini on her blog! Be sure to check it out.
Night all!

Are You Ready for Some Football?!

Yes it is that time of year again! I am not a football fan,but there are some diehard Cowboys fans living in this house with me!!

The Cowboys game was televised on Sunday & the kids were excited  to watch some of it with Drew. They got together with their best friends & all painted their faces with their favorite team's colors! Dad was proud!!
(This picture is from January of 2010. Yep, they all have Cowboys jerseys!!) And while they waych football on a Sunday afternoon, I get to scrap!! Works out for everyone!
Have a great day!

Stamping with Mists

Hi y'all!!
The Flying Unicorn is hosting a Back to School event with many fun tutorials! You can check them all out here.
My tutorial went live on Sunday. We will be stamping with mists in this class. It is a lot of fun & can be messier than stamping with an inkpad, which I like! Everyone has stamps and mostly all have bottles of mists, right?! We are putting them to use in a fun way.
So first gather your supplies. You will need:
-solid colored cardstock or simple printed paper for your background
-2 (atleast) stamps
-several colored bottles of spray mist
-your choice of embellishments

I started by heavily spraying the mist onto my bubblewrap stamp. Stamp the first image, which will be darker and may run some, but that's okay. This look is about being messy! Continue stamping without remisting unitl you no longer have any ink on your stamp. This will add different shades of color and dimension to you project.

Continue stamping this way until the entire piece of cardstock is covered. Allow time for the ink to dry some. I may have waiting 20-30 minutes as I am impatient!!

Next, grab your second stamp. I chose a script stamp and opted for black ink this time. Rather than misting onto my stamp this time, I sprayed alot onto a paper plate & dipped the stamp in the ink. Beacuse the stamp was so heavily concentrated,I blotted some before I stamped on my page.

other 3281.jpg
You can see in the above picture how many stamped images are darker than others and some look very faded. This is the look you will get from restamping before reinking.
other 3282.jpg
Once all of your ink has dried you can continue to create your layout as you would.
I chose to group my photo and embellishments in one corner of my page to better show my stamping. I also used a white marker to circle (highlight) some of the stamped circles from the bubblewrap stamp.
other 3291.jpg
I hope you will participate in this class. Remember, the more classes you complete, the better your chances at winning the wonderful prizes!! There are three gift cards to the store  up for grabs!
Now go get your stamps and mists & have fun!! You don't want to miss it!

LCTS #149 & MME Challenge

Hey-I'm back again!! LOL!
I wanted to share my layout for this week's reveal over at Let's Capture These Sketches. The sketch is from the fabulous Natalie Roy. Here it is:
And here is my take on it:

I used a mix of My Mind's Eye papers for this. The alphas are AC Thickers. The metal flower is from MME Indie Chic collection. The large flower at the top is from Prima & the smaller ones are from Petaloo.
Thanks for stopping by!
I am not feeling that good so I am off to bed with my book.
