Getting Ready

Hey y'all! It's 7 p.m. Monday night & we are preparing for Sandy's wrath. We still have power but are hanging onto each moment with gratefulness. The winds are picking up & they say that overnight could be the worst for us! Let's HOPE & PRAY they're wrong!!
So the kids didn't have school today & they don't have it tomorrow! And Drew was off of work (he is again tomorrow too)! Not so bad when we have power, but if we lose it-UGH!
Today they carved pumpkins & played all afternoon with their best friends!

Friday night we went to a local shopping center to trick-or-treat. I figured that way if things go awry & they can't go on Halloween, they'll atleast have had something!

Hope you all are safe!
Have a great night!

LCTS #155!!

Hey everyone! I hope you're enjoying your Saturday! We are busy around here getting ready for "Frankenstorm". Nothing beats hurricane preparedness. We stocked up on ice, non-perishable foods, batteries, water-all the essentials. It is expected that we could be w/o power for days. And since we've been through that many times before, I want to be ready this time! They are saying that Sandy could come through here sometime b/t Monday early a.m. & Tuesday. We are preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best!! Hope you all are safe if you're in her path!
It's time for another reveal at Let's Capture These Sketches! This week's sketch comes from Natalie Roy & it's a great one!

Here is my layout:
The "family" & camera stamps are My Mind's Eye, as are the hexagon papers, crocheted flower, butterflies & word strips.

I started with the ink splatters & then placed my papers. From there I just started adding bits & pieces.
I hope you get a chance to play along! Please do & make sure to link up your creation!
Happy weekend y'all!

Animal Crackers

That is the challenge over at Southern Girls Challenges (not my favorite snack)!! Check it out and play along! We'd love to see what you create with an animal on it!
Here is my layout for this challenge:
I started with the Prima Craftsman paper line & then cut the zigzag pattern from the Scrap Cake paper (all from the Flying Unicorn October kit). The airplane is fussy cut from Kaiser Craft paper, also from the fabulous kit!
The vine is my latest punch purchase. It's from Martha Stewart. I love it!! The flowers are all from Petaloo. Letter stickers are from Prima.

This fabulous wooden birdcage is from KaiserCraft. I wish I had a hundred more!! I misted it with red ink then used a black paint pen to give it some distressing.
This cute wooden bird is also from Prima.
Ty was Superman for Halloween in 2009. (Yep, the date on my layout is wrong! Gotta fix that!) I am just getting around to scrapping some of those photos!!

I hope you all have a great Thursday & that you get a chance to play along at SGC! Make sure  to link up your creations here!!
HugS!

Journey in Time

Happy Sunday y'all!
I wanted to share some other projects that I made with the Flying Unicorn's October kit. I have already shared my OTP & 2 layouts. Today I have a card & another layout to show you.

Everything here is from the kit except for the "let the good time roll" sticker (which is old Cosmo Cricket), the small alphas (also Cosmo Cricket) & the brown clock arm stickers. I did some distressing & inking on the papers & tags then went about layering. This photo is of Ty & Drew at Field Days of the Past last year. They were watching the tractor pull! We went again this year & the kids had fun, but Ty did not want to see the tractor pull! He said it was too loud. I was shocked as that was always his FAVORITE part of the whole event!!

This is a birthday card I made from the kit for our neighbor, who is also Ty's best friend.
I started with the TCW mask & Pan Pastels. The car is fussycut from a sheet of KasierCraft paper.

That's all for now. Hope you all have a fabulous day! We are headed to the pumpkin patch!!

Spooky Things

Hey blog friends! I am here today to share with you some Halloween projects I have recently made. All Halloween items are on sale in the Flying Unicorn store! Everything is 20% off until October 31!!

My first project is a mini album using Pink Paislee's Phantom collection . I have always thought Pink Paislee's products were incredible & this collection is no exception! The papers are so fun & there are so many elements that you can fussy cut to use as embellishments like I did.

I started with plain chipboard & cut two 6x6 pieces for the front and back covers. I painted them with Mod Podge then added my selected paper. The title is fussy cut from the "Haunted" paper. A great sheet of paper to play with! In fact, that is where most of my embellishments in this album came from!

The black bird and the skull and crossbones tag are from my stash. I love the banners on the paper and the fun silhouette printed paper!

Once all of my pages were embellished and in order, I used some twine from my stash to tie the album together. I also added the witches hat and cauldron that were from one of my daughter's old charm bracelets to the cover. I just need to add more pictures from Halloween's past and this mini is done!

I also completed a layout from the fabulous Pink Paislee collection!

All papers and brads are from Pink Paislee. The black cat is a glitter cut from Fancy Pants.
Make sure you all buy some festive Halloween products before the sale is over! You don't want to be left out in the dark! Heee heee hee hee heeeee!!
Happy Haunting!

LCTS Sketch Reveal!

Hey y'all and Happy Sunday!
The newest sketch is up at Let's Capture These Sketches -#153!! It's another fabulous sketch by Kimberly Figures! Check it out:

And here is my take:

Everything here is from the Flying Unicorn October kit, except for the kraft doilies, feathers & microbeads! You can check the kit out in the store here.  I used The Crafter's Workshop mask that came in the add-on kit & added some texture with paint. The gears were fun to play around with! The larger one is painted with white crackle paint from Tim Holtz.
The smaller one was covered in Mod Podge then I added glitter & the greeen microbeads.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope everyone has a fantastic day!! I know I am gonna take it easy! I am still recuperating from our Friday night! (Will explain that later.)

The Date

Hey y'all!
So I did not pay any attention to today's date, but interestingly enough, my 9 year old daughter did! Did you realize that the date is 10-11-12?! Fun, isn't it?! Hope you all enjoyed this day!
Here is my latest layout. I made it using this sketch from Scrap Friends:

And here is my layout:
I also played along with a challenge at The Flying Unicorn to use no patterned paper &  the colors black & red. I used a chicken wire mask & gesso on white cardstock, then misted with red & black.

I added Liquid Pearls to my foam letters. This layout was alot of fun to make!

The rub-ons at the top, "Love" card & blue journaling card are all from The Flying UNicorn Sept kit. The chipboard crowns are from Maya Road, available at the Flying Unicorn store.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you guys have a fabulous night!
