Slipping By

Hi guys & happy Monday.

Today is  my nieces's 17th birthday! How is it possible? I remember the day she was born & my poor sister was in labor for over 36 hours.
She has begun looking at colleges & planning for her near future. It all seems unreal to me. And I'm not even her mother; I can't imagine what my sister is feeling!

Yesterday we went to the pumpkin patch. And looking at my kids then made me realize again how fast they are growing up too!

These past 10 years have gone by so quickly. I have been feeling very melancholy lately & am sad at how fast they are growing up. If you told me 3 years ago I would feel like this, I would have never believed you! Before I know it, my kids will be touring colleges! It's all so fleeting....I hope they continue to want to take trips to the pumpkin patch with us as they grow.

I also want to share my latest kit I received from Memorable Seasons. It is from Simple Stories-their Smarty Pants collection. What a great kit to receive this time of year!!

  My first project is a mini album I made using the journaling cards from the printed paper.
 

I want to do a seperate mini album for each year of school for the kids. I just finished this for Leah's 2nd grade year (she is now in 5th)!!

 I also created a layout & a card for the Member of the Month lift challenge at MS. This month's chosen member is Colette & you can see her gallery here. I lifted this layout of hers:

Another Birthday Card

Hey y'all! It's Friday again which means I get to share with you my latest creation for Lovebug Creations!
I did make another card, this one for my niece's 17th birthday on Monday. How is it that she's that old already? I remember her as a curly-headed toddler in our wedding!!
I found the inspiration for this card on Pinterest. What did I ever do without it?!?!

I used Lovebug Creations' rumple ribbon in Simply White to tie the "candles" together. I love the crispness it lends to the card!

That's all I have for today! I hope to have more  to share on Monday, if I can squeeze in scrappy time this weekend. It's going to be another busy one here with a ladies' night, heart walk, baseball game, pumpkin patch visit & a birthday brunch!

More Challenges

Hi friends & happy Hump Day!
Today I want to share some challenges for you to check out!

The challenge for this month is to make something Halloween related. Here is my project:

 

I made a witch's hat from a piece of black cardstock that I rolled into a cone. (This was inspired by Christine who always makes some amazing projects!) I added Purple People Eater & Monster Skin rumple ribbon from the "Fright Night" collection. I love the way it turned out! And now we have another Halloween decoration to set out around the house!! The kids will be excited!

Next I want to share my bonus challenge going on in the forums at Memorable Seasons. The challenge is to use song lyrics as your title/journaling on your project. Here is my layout. I have always loved the words to the chorus of the song Heaven by Live & knew I wanted to get them on a page!

Everything here is from Fancy Pants Park Bench collection with the exception of the chipboard alphas & feathers. They are from Thickers and the feathers are mistable ones from Studio Calico. The flowers are from book paper.

I would love it if you would play along with one or both challenges! There are prizes to be won for both!!

Check It Out

Happy Monday y'all!
Today at the kids' school was an SCA sponsored day, Mustache Monday!

 My kids were excited to sport their mustaches & gear (Leah even has mustache earrings)!

I read today that the challenge blogs About A Boy and About A Girl are combining to one new challenge blog, Boy Meets Girl beginning October 1! Check it all out & mark your calendars!

I also want to share some projects I have recently made.
The first is a birthday card for Ty's best friend whose party was yesterday.

   Charlie is turning 9 & I thought this design was good for a 9 year-old boy!

The next is a layout that I made for a challenge from the guest designer at Memorable Seasons. It is to use scrap pieces of paper, 2 inches or smaller.

I used older scraps from October Afternoon (the blue pps) & punched 2 inch circles. The other embellishments I had laying on my desk! The banners are from Fancy Pants; the "FUN" tags & clips are from Crate Paper.

This was a fun challenge! I tend to hold onto every scrap so it was good to actually use them up!

Here is another layout that I can't remember if I shared or not!

Everything here, with the exception of the alphas, is from Fancy Pants.

Sketch N Scrap #41

Hi y'all!
I hope you're all having a nice weekend. We are around here. We've had lots of quality time spent with family and good friends and perfect weather too! I couldn't ask for more!!

Since it's the MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER (ahhhhh), that means a new sketch release at Sketch N Scrap. Here is the mid-month sketch by Kelly:

Here is my layout:

I started with this piece of patterned paper from Crate Paper that I LOVE! I've been waiting for just the right time to use it. I love the softness of it.

I used a great mix of products here. The journal card is from Carta Bella; the chipboard flower, large paper flower & butterfly sticker are from Crate Paper; the alphas & asteriks are Thickers; the word stickers are from Fancy Pants; the chevron chipboard pieces are from My Mind's Eye and the banner under the chevron is from Studio Calico.

Back to School Crop!

Hey y'all & happy Saturday!
It's a gorgeous day here & we just got home from Ty's baseball game. It feels like Fall & I love it!

Fall also means back to school, and Memorable Seasons is having a Back To School crop! Click on the link to be directed to it in the forums. There are many challenges posted already & lots of fun games on-going.
I would love it if you all would drop by!
My challenge is a school supply challenge. You need to use at least 2 school supplies on your project. Here is my layout:

 As you can see, I used staples, a paperclip, masking tape, a pencil & my title is on top of a library card.
