It's Leap Day!

Happy Leap Day to you all! An extra day of February-woot!
Today McDonald's was giving anyone a free coffee in honor of the day. (I don't drink coffee, so didn't enjoy the little perk. Hope some of you did!)
Today was a nasty, rainy day here. Like torrential downpour rain. I took advantage of the weather & stayed inside & finished some scrapping!
Here is my latest layout using the February kit from MSN, along with this sketch from Scrap the Boys:

And here is my layout:

I turned the sketch 90 degrees & moved around some of the embellishments.
Everything here is from October Afternoon's Sasparilla line. I have had so much fun playing around with it! (And I just got the March kit in the mail today!!! Gotta make a few more with this kit before I put it away & open up the new one.) These pictures are from 2010, taken at Ty's pre-school. He was so little then!!

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you all enjoyed the "extra" day!

Playing Catch-up

Hi friends!
I am in shock that February is almost over!! Time sure is flying by & extremely quickly, too!!
I know I have been neglecting this blog recently & want to try to remedy that. I am hoping that I can find (or make) more time to dedicate to it. I want to post scrapping projects, but also use this blog as a memory keeper of sorts. To record things that happen in our day-to-day life.

And, in January, my baby boy turned FIVE & I never posted about his birthday (horror)!
He had a fun party at Kangaroo Jack's with a lot of his friends, & our friend Amy made his special birthday cake (his request was simply "Star Wars"). She rocks in the kitchen!
On his birthday (the kids were off of school & Drew was off work for MLK day), we had lunch at Red Robin, one of Ty's favorite restaurants. He was amazed when the waitresses sang "Happy birthday" to him! He asked us how they knew it was his birthday! And he was so very excited to be 5!!!!! (Me, not so much-they are growing up way too fast!)

Ever since November, the kids have been asking when we would get snow. They couldn't wait to go sledding. We had a pretty mild winter here with unseasonably warm days. So imagine everyone's surprise when, the day after a 65 degree Saturday, we got a few inches of snow! The kids had Monday, February 21, off for President's Day & we took advantage of the time and finally went sledding. And I think, after months of anticipation, it was well-enjoyed by us all!

Just four days after this photo was taken, we had an almost 80 degree day & the kids were running around in shorts!! Crazy!

Before I go, I want to also share my latest layout.

(Sorry, I still haven't figured out how to rotate my photos!) I used the Studio Calico Memoir papers & punched squares from them, then cut the squares in half to form the strip at the bottom of the page. I layered a burlap scrap, tissue paper, a journaling card & some stickers around my photo. This was really fun to make!

Time to get the kids ready for bed (& myself too. I am looking forward to curling up & reading this book).

I really hope it's not too long before I can post again!
Thanks for stopping by!

You Make Me Smile

Hey everyone!
Just popping in to share a layout that I made using My Scrapbook Nook's February kit. It was made for this month's recipe challenge & it was so much fun!!
The kit features October Afternoon's Sassparilla line. What a great kit!
These pictures of Ty always bring  a smile to my face! Love that kid!

I hope to find some time this weekend to create more with this kit!
Have a great one!

MME Blog Challenge #32

Hey guys! Yes, I am still breathing! And I have a lot to catch up on, but Drew is out of town so it will all have to wait til another time.
Tonight I did want to share my latest layout that I created for the My Mind's Eye blog challenge this month. The theme is "you" and here is the sketch:  MME2012_sketch_layout02_Feb
And  here is my take:

The black & creme paper is from MME Andrea Victoria line; the crepe trim is also MME; the alphas are Making Memories.
This picture was taken almost 3 summers ago! We took the kids to have pictures taken in a studio & he would not cooperate! He was only happy if someone was holding him. Also at this same stage, he used to say "hold you" instead of "hold me". I always loved that & never corrected him. I wanted to do a layout documenting that stage.
Thanks for looking & I hope to share more very soon!!
