LCTS #138

The latest layout I did was for sketch challenge #138 at Let's Capture These Sketches. Here is the sketch by the fabulous JJ Sobey:

I love cicrles so I knew as soon as I saw this sketch that I HAD to play along!!!!
Here is my layout:

I used the May kit from My Scrapbook Nook to make this layout. This picture is over 6 years old! Leah was three here & sadly, both of these dogs are no longer with us. Noah, the black one, lost his battle with cancer just a few days after this picture was taken. And Luke, the yellow, we put down 2 1/2 years ago.
The kids still say all the time how much they love & miss these dogs! They were 2 of the greatest!!

If you get a chance to play along, you really should! LCTS is a great site & always has fun sketches to work with!

Hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

Did you notice the next to last name? YEP-it's mine!!! I am beyond excited and thrilled to be on this team. Can't wait to get started! My first assignment is due soon-so be on the lookout for it.
I also have a layout that I just finished for a sketch challenge over at My Scrapbook Nook. I wanted to show you how you can easily change the color of your Thickers to match your layout (provided that they are white or a light color). I had some yellow Thickers that I wanted to use on this layout but they were just too bright- especially when placed next to the yellow paper from the MSN kit!

So I got out my Color Box chalk/ink & after going over the Thickers a few times, they were soon the color I preferred!
(The ink is a light brown/camel color.)
Simple and a great way to make your stash work in the moment!!!

Here is the entire layout:

All of the products here are from My Scrapbook Nook's June kit which features Simple Stories' "Summer Fresh" collection. I love the ease this kit has provided me in scrapping this month. I have already made 4 layouts and can easily make 5 or 6 more!

I hope to be back soon with a summer post & update!

Have a great evening all!

And Just Like That.....

She is a FOURTH grader!! I can not for the life of me believe this! 2 more years of elem school & then on to middle (but I don't want to rush things)! She was very sad, & even cried, on her last day of school. That was a first! Her teacher is retiring from teaching (for the time being) & her school principal was transferred to another school. Too mnay changes for a little girl who doesn't handle change very well.

He finished his first season of t-ball & enjoyed every minute of it. Especially loved getting his trophy on the last day! And now he can't wait to play machine-pitch next year!!
And we are trying our hardest to make the most of every minute with him this summer as he will enter Kindergarten in a short 2 1/2 months.

Summer is in full swing! The kids have been staying up later & sleeping in til 9 or 10 o'clock every morning. Lazy days at the pool, reading, playdates with friends.....it's looking to be a slow & carefree summer, and we are greateful for that.
Ty starts swim lessons on Monday & Leah has a cooking camp scheduled in July, but other than that, we have no definite plans.

I have my first cold of the summer & am getting ready to go to bed to get lots of rest!

Happy Summer everyone!

A Quick Share

So summer is finally  here & I'm really hoping that means I'll have more free time to scrap & post on my blog! I will definitely catch up soon with all the goings-on around here, but for now I wanted  to share my latest layout. I did this for a sketch challenge at Creative Scrappers. This is sketch #211 & here is their sketch by the fabulous Nicole:

And here is my layout:

I used the gorgeous May kit from My Scrapbook Nook & added a few miscellaneous items here & there (the chipboard flowers under the canvas butterfly; the pearl dots; the chipboard bird in the upper left-hand corner of the page; the sequins). I love how pretty & feminine this kit is! I've already promised myself that I will scrap pictures of my son with June's kit!

If you get a chance, & like to play along with sketches, you should check out Creative Scrappers blog. It's lots of fun!

Well I have to run now-Ty has his last t-ball game today! Go Riverdogs!
Have a great weekend ya'll!

A Recipe & A Sketch

So anyone who knows we well knows that I do not cook! Therefore, the above-mentioned recipe can not be about dinner plans, right? Right! There was a scrapping challenge posted at My Scrapbook Nook that used a "recipe". You had to use the following items on a layout:
1 photo
1 background paper
4 patterned papers
2 stickers
1 tag
1 canvas butterfly
2 buttons
& handwritten journaling.
Here is the layout I made following the recipe:

I used the May kit from MSN featuring Echo Park's "This & That" collection. Another stunning kit!! I have had so much fun creating with it. (And it's easier, & more fun than cooking!!)

I also played along with the sketch challenge at MSN. Here is the sketch they provided:

And here is my layout:

Leah is growing up too quickly! And these pictures are not even recent!!! She is almost 9 1/2 & said to me the other day that she wishes she could stay this age-she doesn't want to grow up! (However, she does want to be old enough to have a cell phone!)

There are more challenges I hope to find time to play along with. Though this month is shaping up to be a busy one. Only one more week of school!!!!!!!!!! AHHHH!

Hope you all have a great night!
