What's Happening....

Hey y'all! I know it's been a long time since I have been around this ole blog! And I have a lot of catching up to do!!
First, I want to share a gift bag that I recently made & embellished with flair from The Crafty Pickle. By the way, the shop had reopened so you can find all your flair button needs and more there!! And lots of new products have ben added!

I added the hearts flair button to the top of the fabric rosette and love the way this simple but sweet gift bag turned out!

While it's not a Christmas gift bag, it will be perfect to present to my daughter with a small gift or gift card for her 13th birthday next week! I am at a loss for words as we embrace on teenagehood. I can't believe Leah has reached this stage already!! I must say, for the most part, we are pretty lucky-she's a great kid!

Speaking of Christmas & he holidays, are you ready?! I am almost done shopping, however, have not done much in the way of decorating. We hosted Thanksgiving dinner for the family here this year so we were pretty busy preparing for that. Now I seem to have lost all motivation to get ready for Christmas! Hoping I find it soon!!! We did have a special guest arrive on December first:

Ty was so excited to see "Countdown" when he got home from school the other day! He had been asking when he would arrive for weeks!! The Season is upon us!
Make it a great one!

Christmas Bloopers

Hey y'all! Did you have a nice Christmas? It went by so fast & I am still in disbelief that it's over! We had a nice day spent with family & many laughs! We wouldn't want it any other way.
Here are some pictures to recap the days.
Leah asleep by her Christmas tree.

The kids made a gingerbread house & the sides & roof kept caving in!

Then the dog ate it!!

We went to church Christmas Eve night with my mom again this year. It was very nice & she enjoyed us being with her. I thin this may become a yearly tradition!

Leah also wants to start a new tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve from me & Drew. We indulge her wish this year.

Christmas day Ty woke up first around 7a.m. & tried to get Leah up. He was so excited & she wanted to sleep! But around 7:20, they both got up & headed down to see what Santa had left.

They were happy with their gifts. Ty got a Nerf Thunder Bow & Leah got 1D perfume!

The dogs even got treats from Santa!

Santa enjoyed the kids' sugar cookies & milk!

The kids had "smowmen" for breakfast!

They played with their gifts & we watched "A Christmas Story" & my mom & brother came over in the afternoon for a drink. We all then went to my sister's for apps & more drinks before heading to my brother's & sister-in-law's house for Christmas dinner & gift exchange.
                                                                   Girl cousins!!

We all had a great time being together & having lots of fun!
Merry Christmas 'til next year!

December Decorations & A winner!

Hey y'all! Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile, but we all know how busy & hectic this time of year can be!
I have finally finished decorating the house & the Christmas tree-whew!! That took much longer than I expected. I must be getting slower as I age!
I have pictures to share, but first, I recently realized that I never announced a winner from my "grateful" giveaway! I am so sorry for the delay! Lori is the lucky winner!! Yay! Please email me at dreweaken@comcast.net with your address so I can send out your prize.

How sweet of you to do a giveaway! I am already a follower and I am grateful for the chance to win!

Now onto some Christmas décor photos!! I love this time of year!

These plastic reindeer were in my home as a child & I so clearly remember playing with them once mom put them out. I cherish them for sure!

Leah's Nutcracker collection grows every year!!

                                                              And lastly is  the tree!
I hope you all are ready for the big day!!
Take care & enjoy!

So This Is Christmas

I have found myself guilty of browsing social media & looking at others' posts about the fabulous crafts they do with their children; the gorgeous photos of everyone dressed in just the right outfit, wearing huge smiles & staring so fondly at the camera; or choosing the perfect Christmas tree on a beautiful day that looks Christmas card worthy; and I have found myself wondering "why can't we capture moments like that"?! The fact of the matter around here is, we don't usually have those "picture perfect" moments. Or if we do, we're too caught up in the moment to photograph it! It never fails, every time I set out to get good pictures, something inevitable comes between them & my vision- one child is in a terrible mood; someone spilled food all over their holiday outfit; so on & so forth.
Friday night was the Grand Illumination downtown & Leah had Cotillion's Holly Ball. Three of us were going to be dressed up & already downtown that night, so I tried to devise a plan to get Ty down there after the dance to take pictures of all of us in our Christmas attire (possibly to use as this year's Christmas cards)! Great idea in theory, not so great in real life. It was 8:30 p.m. by the  time we arrived and Ty had been with my sister, brother-in-law & nephew for four hours & he was thirsty & getting tired. I tried bribing him with a treat from Starbuck's if we could just get one good photo of us all. Well, you know how that goes-the smiles were nothing short of a flat out grimace & he complained every step of the way! We took some photos, but I left feeling less than satisfied. Ugh!
(Holly Ball dance)

Saturday we went to get our Christmas tree first thing in the morning. Drew came home from the gym & said he thought we should go then to try & beat the rain so we wouldn't have a soaked tree when we finally brought it in the house. We tried to get the kids motivated to get dressed & ready so we could quickly head out. 30 minutes later, after many threats & some shouting, we were out the door-and the rain started!! A woman in front of us turned down a tree showed to her & we gladly accepted it-the first one we saw & off we went! I think that was a first for us!! I wanted to ward off the whining that I knew would be in our near future if we stuck around! And pictures, I took only one on my phone.
Yesterday we went to meet a friend (who is also a professional photographer) to have family pictures taken. We haven't had ones taken since Leah was 3 (& Ty wasn't even born)! The day didn't start off too great-kids were complaining about what they had to wear & then, when we were about 5 minutes from her house (in an area we were unfamiliar with), we ran into a road closure! No detours were posted,so we tried to find our own way & ended up being 15 minutes late (I loathe lateness)!! I really thought that it wasn't going to work & good photos just weren't in the stars for us this year. It worked out though, as Dawn knew about the road closure & it actually pushed all her appointments back. The pictures are amazing & I am going to have such a hard time deciding on one for our Christmas card.
In the end, we were able to get some fun moments captured & I continue to tell myself, especially during this chaotic time of year, that I need to not stress & just enjoy all that there is to be grateful for.
I hope you all are enjoying the everyday & special moments at this time of year also!

Hello December!

Happy first day of December, y'all! I am beginning to stress a bit about all that has to be done, but I LOVE this time of year & everything that comes with it!
Today was an exciting day here as our Elf On the Shelf, Countdown arrived!! The kids were thrilled & Ty had been asking for a long time when he would be here.
Ty found him after school & was beaming from ear to ear!! And the season has begun!

Have a great night!

Black Friday!

Hope the Thanksgiving holiday was a special one for y'all. We had a great time with the family & an amazing dinner at my sister & brother-in-law's house. Fun was had by all!! We are so very thankful for all of our incredible family & awesome friends. We are lucky enough to get to celebrate tonight with some great friends in the neighborhood.
Today we did a little bit of shopping, but did not get out early. I did that in the past & found that it's not worth it!! Leah needed a new dress for her Cotillion Holly Ball dance next Friday so we hot the mall & were lucky enough to find a dress at the first store! Whew ('cause she is not a shopper!) She even said to me that she didn't really like the dress we got, but if it kept us from going to any other stores, she would just get it & wear it! Funny girl!
I spent some time in my scrappy space today but didn't create anything. I organized old layouts. Now I just need to get them put in albums!!!

Have a wonderful Friday night y'all!

Let's Catch Up!

Hey y'all! Sorry I have been missing from the blog for a while. Things are very busy around here, but I'm sure everyone is feeling the busyness of this time of year. I started listening to Christmas carols on the radio & I am getting so excited for the holiday season!! My kids,on the other hand, are not thrilled by my early onset of Christmastitis! They better learn to deal, quickly!
So before I barrel head first into Christmas, I thought I'd share some pics from Halloween & our latest happenings. We had a nerd (albeit a cute one) & a werewolf roaming around here.

We all had a lot of fun on Halloween! We had our traditional pizza dinner with the family & our close friends & neighbors. Since Halloween was on a Friday this year, the kids stayed out longer & then we had some other friends join us at our house for a little adult & kid fun!!

The day after Halloween, Leah had a Cotillion dance to attend. She was thrilled to get dressed up & even curled her hair! The girls went out to dinner before the dance & had a great time!

We went with some friends to see Marvel Universe Live. It was exciting & fast-paced, but very loud & Ty was not a huge fan! But he did lose a tooth while we were there! He was excited about that. That was the third one in a week! And he lost another one today at school! He looks so adorable with no teeth in the front.
It has been a fun-filled month for sure! And it's flying by.
I hope it's enjoyable for you too!
