1st Day-PL Style Layout

Hi Crafty friends! Sorry things have been a bit quiet around here lately. We have been busy with back to school; a trip to the beach to visit my sister who moved to SC two weeks ago; and the normal busyness of life in the summertime!!

I'm popping in today to share a layout that I created in the PL style. My kids just went back to school last week, so in honor of the big day, I made a 1st day of school page! (Granted, the photos are from two years ago-but they're now scrapped!)

1st day

I used several flair buttons from The Crafty Pickle as well as some small stamps from Close To My Heart that work great for Project Life projects!!

I used a big mix of PL & journal cards from WRMK; Crate Paper; My Mind's Eye & Glitz.

Use It Up Tuesday-Travel Often

Hey guys!
So baseball is behind us (Ty's team lost their first single elimination game Wednesday night) and now we have lots of free time to enjoy the rest of the summer!! And boy is it zooming by too quickly! I can not believe it is almost the middle of August! Ty's All Star team played amazingly well & most of the boys were heartbroken when they lost, but Ty seemed nonplussed! Glad he can take the wins &  the losses with dignity!

Before it is the middle of the month, I have to share the current sketch challenge at My Scraps & More Sketches, #111. This amazing sketch was created by Audrey:

Here is what I created:

I used larger paper scraps from my stash. The blue/circle paper reminded me of the circles from the sketch so I figured it was a great way to duplicate the circles & use up some scraps!

The wood veneer globe is probably my favorite embellishment here! It is from Simple Stories' I Am collection. The "relax" chippie is from Crate Paper's On the Road collection.  My foam alphas are AC Thickers.

The "you are here" chippie is also from Crate Paper. The flower & "hey there" chipboard pieces are from My Mind's Eye and are very old! I have been hoarding them for years!! But, it's "Use It Up Tuesday" so I made sure to use some older supplies!

Bes ure to play along with this sketch & link up at the blog.  Here is what you could win for playing along:
August Sketch Prize!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to be back soon. Tomorrow we are headed to a water park with family & friends!!

All Star Card

Hey y'all! It has been a little bit busy & crazy around here recently! I haven't had time to do much crafting (or anything else for that matter)!

But I do have a card to share that I made for my son Ty who was selected to play on our Little League’s All Star team. He was at practice yesterday & fractured his finger when a ball popped up & hit his finger (fourth time it happened in a week).
I figured this card was perfect to give him some encouragement & support right now! Poor guy was so upset that he wouldn't be able to play in the tournament that begins Saturday! The doctor told him to keep his finger wrapped  & rest this week & he would be fine to play the tournament games-YAY!

all star

I punched stars from my card with my Fiskars craft punch. I then used leftover acetate from an old package to place on the inside of my card. Once the top piece of acetate was strongly secured to the card, I filled it with the Star Spangled Relish Mix sequins from the shop. After I had the desired amount of sequins inside, I secured the other side of the acetate with redline tape.
I then added some twine, one of my punched stars & some self-adhesive sequin dots.

My glitter alphas (that I adore) are AC Thicker's.

I hope this helps my little guy feel a bit better!

Thanks for stopping by! Make it a crafty day!

Be Free-Use It Up Tuesday

Hey there friends! Is it hot where you are? The heat here yesterday & today is unbearable! While we love summer, the heat can be a real drag! (Makes for perfect crafting days!!)

I am here today to share my latest layout with you. I created a Fourth of July page using the All American flair set from The Crafty Pickle.
I have to admit, I don't create many patriotic pages! They intimidate me, but these flair buttons make the process fun and exciting!! I used three of the six in the set. be free
the crafty pickle flair layout
I hand cut several banners to accent the top corner and have one laying on top of my photo. I love how this takes away some of the blank space of my photo. I added a chipboard arrow & the "Happy Birthday America" flair. LOVE this one!
the crafty pickle flair layout
More hand cut banners under my photo act as a matt. I then mounted the "July 4" flair onto a punched scalloped circle. The paint here acts as my journal block.
layout created using the crafty pickle flair
A pre-printed banner at the bottom & "the Land of the Free Because of the Brave" flair finish off the bottom of my page.
All of my papers are from Authentique with the exception of the "bandana" print grey. That is from October Afternoon. My stickers here are also from Authentique & are from the same collection as the papers. They were received in a kit years ago & I saved them knowing that I would one day need them for a July 4th layout. So sometimes hoarding does make sense!!!!
I started with this sketch from The Scrapbook Circle:
SC-sketch-0715

I kept my layout pretty simple and love the dimension the flair buttons add to my page! I could have used them all but wanted to save the remaining three for another page (or maybe cards)!!
Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the day & stay cool!

New DT!

Hey y'all! I have been MIA for awhile, I know. Summer came at us in full swing & we just got home from vacation a few days ago. We are all missing the beach terribly now!

While we were away, some exciting news was announced over on the CAS-ual Chic blog.

CAS-ual Chic is a brand new fun and inspirational challenge for those who love Utterly Adorable Layers in their design! It is a sister blog of CAS-ual Fridays and about a month ago, I received an email from Michelle asking me to join the team!  There is one challenge a month so you have plenty of time to play along. There are no product requirements and you can make anything  you choose-cards, layouts, PL spreads, etc. The DT will be using CAS-ual Friday stamps & dies & would love to see them in your projects if you have them!
The first challenge goes live tomorrow, so be sure to stop back by!
Have a great night!

End of the School Year!

So our kids' last day of school was Friday & I am still in utter shock that the summer is upon us! This year flew by faster than any in my memory. I am excited for the kids as they both had amazing years. Leah got straight As all year & Ty received honor roll all year (all As & one B). Ty had perfect attendance & Leah was a member of the SCA, wrestling manager, gymnastics team & made the cheerleading squad for next year! Both of them made the year fabulous!! I we just found out that Ty made the Little League All-Stars team!

My niece graduated from high school this year so I made some cards.
I have use flair & sequins/confetti from The Crafty Pickle.

This card uses the ConGRADulations confetti. I made the cap from black carstock & created a tassel from twine  that I sprayed with black mist.

The next card I made is a general "Congratulations" card.

I used the stack of books flair button from the I Love Books set.  I also used some of the star confetti from the Cinema confetti set.
TCP just recently had a huge shop update so be sure to check out all the great products here!!!
Thanks  so much for stopping by today!

Stay crafty!

SOUS Sketch & News

Hey y'all!
I'm here today to share my layout using the latest sketch from Stuck On U Sketches. This great sketch was created by Nanne, I am so sad to say that this will be the next to last sketch for SOUS. This site has been a wonderful point of inspiration for so many, and I have been more than lucky to design with these amazing sketches! I will definitely miss the site and the ladies that I now call friends!
Here is a look at the sketch:

I loved the many layers in the sketch & the "beach bum" title inspired me to create a summer page. The title comes from a line from a favorite song at the time being, "The One" from Kodaline.

The photo is an old one from 6 years ago at my brother's pool. I love the happiness on both the kids' faces!!

The chipboard banner is from Heidi Swapp, as is the flair button.

I hope you find the chance to play along with us this month, especially since there are only a few sketches left!! Be sure to link up here so we can see your layouts.

Thanks for visiting!

Guesting at Stick It Down

Hey y'all!
I am excited to share that I was chosen as a guest designer at Stick It Down! I was able to create with this amazingly fun sketch

Don't you just love all the small squares?! The possibilities here are endless!
Here is my layout:
I started with the background paper from October Afternoon that I swear I have been hoarding for years! On top of that, I placed four squares that measure approximately 3x3, on a piece of cream cardstock.
I splattered some black mist on the cardstock. The chipboard butterflies are from Heidi Swapp & were misted with Jack Frost mist from Tattered Angels.

The photo is from summer of 2011 on our trip to Williamsburg. We took the kids to Jamestown for a few hours & they were both bored to tears (literally for Ty)! This is one of a few decent pictures I was able to get that day-ha!
I had a blast creating this page & love the way it turned out! Thanks for having me as a guest designer SID!!
Maybe you can find the time to play along with this great sketch also!

Supplies:
-patterned paper-October Afternoon; Fancy Pants; Crate Paper
-burlap pieces-Little Yellow Bicycle
-cork embellishments-Fancy Pants
-doily-Martha Stewart
-chipboard butterflies-Heidi Swapp

Thank y'all for stopping by! I really appreciate it!!

Tuesday with LBC

Hey y'all & happy September! Whoa, did I just say 'September"?! How did that happen so fast? The summer is officially over & my kids went back to school today (I want to share more on that later). As sad as we are to see the summer end, fall is an exciting time with lots of fun activities happening! And LOTS of birthday around here too!!

Today is one of my friend's birthday & my sister's is next week. I made a couple more cards to share today featuring Lovebug Creations' rumple ribbon.

I used Icy Sky on both cards, which is now retired, but you can find many fabulous colors in the store

This hexagon paper is one of my all time favorites from My Mind's Eye. It's from their Follow Your Heart collection.  The 'happy birthday' sentiment is a rub-on from Prima.

For this card, I cut out a few of the hexagons & placed two on my cardstock. The other was popped up on this craft envelope from Kaiser Craft. I thought this would be the perfect spot to slip in a gift card!

I thought the wooden buttons were the perfect touch to top the pretty bows!
And now two birthday cards are in the bag!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Stay crafty!

Layout Thursday

Hey y'all! Summer is quickly coming to a close & as sad as I am about seeing my kids go back to school, I will say that I am looking forward to some "down time" on Tuesday! My house has been lacking on TLC this summer & I could sure use some quiet time (and scrappy time)!

I have a layout to share today. I played along with this sketch from Life. Paper. Scrapbook:

And I also played along with this color combo at Color Me Scrappy

I started with the gold mist splatters & then added some areas with blue mist. The flower pp is from Crate Paper & the yellow paper is from My Mind's Eye.

I stamped the word phrases with my Dear Lizzy stamp. The mini clothespin is also from Crate, as is the black & white flower.
This will be LPS's last challenge. They have brought such fun & unique challenges to the scrapbook world & their magazine was always full of wonderful inspiration! I will be sad to see them go!

That is all for today. I am really hoping to get some scrappy time in this weekend, although it's shaping up to be a busy one! What are our plans for the holiday weekend?
Til next time,
~Stephanie

Happy Birthday Card

Hey y'all! Hope you're enjoying this Tuesday. It's a gorgeous, sunny, 79 degree day here. In exactly one week, school starts for my kiddos! Ahhhh!  The summer flew by entirely too fast & I am not ready to give up sleeping in & relaxed schedules. This time of year can get so crazy & hectic & it usually doesn't end until after the first of the year!!
We have lots of friends' & family birthdays coming up so I thought I'd start making cards.
Today I am sharing one that I created with Lovebug Creations' rumple ribbons.
I used Honey Mustard from the Fall for You collection & Crushed from the Loves Me...Love Me Knot collection.
These are not two colors that I would normally think of paring together, but they both match the scalloped paper perfectly!!

  Supplies:
-cardstock-Bazzill
-Lovebug Creations' rumple ribbons
-My Mind's Eye patterned paper-Market Street
-gemstone-BoBunny

Thanks for stopping by! See ya' next time!!
